The 90’s-adoring Bristol party is coming to London for the first time, and they’re heading ever more towards a 4/4 tip. With their last party in Bristol packed to bursting point in the company of Maurice Fulton and Roy Davis Jr, No Scrubs certainly proved that they have become a party wanting to be taken seriously. The latest offering will be a day and night party in East London, featuring the Australian disco legend Late Nite Tuff Guy during the day and Detroit selector Terrence Parker by night.
The whole idea behind this night seems to be to make a slight departure from what they were doing before in the West, with less emphasis on posting tunes like R Kelly – Ignition on the facebook page, and more about nice disco edits and snippets from house and techno culture. The success of the nights in Bristol was forged on a solid base of 90s which really filled the gap in the market in Bristol at the time. This new direction for them is different, but a bold attempt to forge a name in the capital’s busy party scene.
For those that don’t know, Late Nite Tuff Guy (or Carmelo Bianchetti to his mother) is the same person responsible for the driving techno anthems such as Marauder under his HMC alias in the 90s and early 00s. His LNTG moniker takes a completely different approach to dance music, picking up edits of disco greats such as Sister Sledge. He’s garnered support from names like Greg Wilson (whose seal of approval is enough to convince most) and we’re very much looking forward to what records he packs in his bag.
Terrence Parker could not come from a more different background. He is truly one of the old guard from the real birthplace of techno, Detroit. People may know him from his disco-infused smasher Love’s Got Me High. To rate him just for this would be to overlook a whole host of incredible music-making this man has done with 100s of releases to his name. Famous for DJing with a telephone in place of headphones, his sets can span all the sub-genres of house and disco that you can name and even some you can’t. This man is a legend in the industry, well and truly.
With a balance between uplifting disco in the day and possibly dipping our toes into some techno in the evening, this No Scrubs event promises to get your feet stomping for a good few hours.
