We’re fairly picky when it comes to our Indie music and don’t tend to be too enamoured by thrashing guitars and screaming vocals. East-Country 6-piece Solko, however, offer a different approach. They have a set-up of your typical rock band but two extra saxophones add a real swing and funk to their music. When songs like Weatherman really get going it definitely harks back to some of the long instrumentals on Foals’ debut LP Antidotes that I’ve longed other bands to recreate. BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson has already given the band some airplay so hopefully they will start to get the attention they deserve for bringing something different to guitar music. Solko’s debut EP Fix This Fire was released last September so go have a listen over at their Bandcamp for a head-nodding good time.
