Premiere: Hit Man – Future Times

We can always count on Adelaide-based label Isle of Jura to come up with the goods. A purveyor of sounds you didn’t know you needed in your life until they enter your ears, label head Kevin Griffiths AKA Jura Soundsystem has been responsible for unearthing some of our favourite forgotten obscurities and lost musical gems.

As a way to build on the label’s discoveries and present some of Kevin’s own compositions and edits, in 2018 he released the first in a series of compilations, a transmission live and direct from Jura Soundsystem. This year sees him follow that up with Transmission Two, a collection of sought after out of print titles and music that’s never previously been released before.

A sketchbook of music from Kevin’s digging sprees, it features a wide breadth of music from the likes of Carl Craig, Aphex Twin protégé Bochum Welt, Freeez’ John Rocca, an affirmation of life from actor Jeff Bridges and our pick from Hit Man. Originally released in 1982 on Philly World Records, the 12” is the only release from the elusive artist and sees him layer twinkling melodies and soft vocal slivers over low slung electronic funk.

Jura Soundsystem Presents Transmission Two is out on 13th March. But your copy from Isle Of Jura.
