Day 14: New World Science – Making Faces

Day 14 of our 2019 charity Advent Calendar, in aid of War Child.

Fourth-world fantasy, sub-orbital meditations from Priori’s Canadian ambient supergroup New World Science, whose 2019 debut album featured Ex-Terrestrial, Emmanuel Thibau, RAMZi and R Weng.

This otherworldly ambient composition gathers a subtle but affecting momentum with delicately warped synth lines and percussion that can feel both organic and ordered. An intriguing deviation from convention – a brave New World.

“My studio mate Patrick brought back this beautifully aged electric guitar to the studio recently. I have no idea how to play, but it sounded great through the harmonizer so I layered some parts.”

Our featured charity for 2019 is War Childwhose work in post-conflict zones is done a bit differently. They recognise humans need more than just food and shelter to flourish after a war, breaking the cycle that leads to repeated conflicts by giving them purpose, education and cultural enrichment.

The dance floor has long-since been a safe space for the displaced, marginalised and persecuted to find community and expression. Safe Spaces represent the core of War Child’s work, providing vital refuge for young people to play, learn and regain their childhood.
