Day 11: DJ Absolutely Shit – Making A Better World By Chopping Up Boris and Mogg

Day 11 of our 2019 charity Advent Calendar, in aid of War Child.

The man at the helm of the Manctalo movement, Red Laser Records boss Ill Bosco, returns under his lighthearted moniker DJ Absolutely Shit. An unpredictable mash up of breaks, electro and bassline and a timely political jibe ahead of election day.

“My cellar flooded and when I was clearing it out I found an old box of mini discs. I was checking through them and found loads of tracks I’d made back in 2003. This was one of them but needed more so went to Metrodome’s studio (Levels) and he got it in the computer and we spent a few sessions ripping it apart and dubbing the whole thing and the result is this.”

Our featured charity for 2019 is War Childwhose work in post-conflict zones is done a bit differently. They recognise humans need more than just food and shelter to flourish after a war, breaking the cycle that leads to repeated conflicts by giving them purpose, education and cultural enrichment.

The dance floor has long-since been a safe space for the displaced, marginalised and persecuted to find community and expression. Safe Spaces represent the core of War Child’s work, providing vital refuge for young people to play, learn and regain their childhood.

Check the below playlist for all tracks in our Calendar.

Out to Peckham Cuts for mastering the track. Check out our tour of their workshop in 2016 and their Self-Portrait from 2018 (mixed by Medlar).
