Premiere: Yelfris Valdés – Red Eclipse

Producer, songwriter and trumpeter whose past work includes featurings for Yussef Kamaal, Yelfris Valdés mixes Afro-Cuban jazz with his Yoruba heritage and electronic soundscapes on his new album, For The Ones, which also inaugurates the label for London based platform Música Macondo. On ‘Red Eclipse’, the influence of composers like Jon Hassell and early Bonobo is hard to escape; the swirling, acidic undertones playing off Valdés brass storytelling to give it the kind of cinematic drama that feels at home on the silver screen.

For The Ones is out 4th October – buy from Bandcamp.
