It begins with a roll of thunder. A lush and brooding sound that brings to mind a bruised bank of clouds. These clouds soon part however, making way for a rolling garage beat in no particular hurry. ‘Grove Park’ is a tool at heart, but crafted with real panache.
Peckham icon Warren Brown, better known as Wbeeza, is an assured producer, whose credibility among his peers far transcends his modest acclaim. Commanding attention with a limited palette, he allows sustained synth tones and melancholic chords to colour a dance floor building block that goes above and beyond. He returns for his first solo EP in three years to inaugurate Troy Town, a South London label who are off to a storming start.
The OD EP is out 27th July – buy from Bandcamp.
