Fulfilling the prophecy set out in the original 1996 press release, figureheads in Danish electronic music get a new lease of life with a fresh remix package on ØEN Rec.
A trio made up of Dub Tractor, Acustic and Opiate, Future 3 helped define Danish dance music in the mid 90s and ‘The Boy From West Bronx’ was considered an understated breakbeat classic. Fittingly, three of Denmark’s leading contemporary producers, who can trace their roots to Future 3’s work, have heeded the call in 1996 to help reinstate a track that was promised never to feature on a future release from the group.
Ranging from mystical ambient to Italian dream house, Regelbau and Help Recordings principals Central, C.K. and Ti (better known as DJ Sports) offer up three worthy alternatives. Restraining ourselves from premiering all of them, we went for Central’s deep and dubby rendition, symptomatic of the sound in Århus that they’re cultivating. A shrewd presentation of 20 years of Danish dance lineage across just four tracks.
The Boy From West Bronx is out 11th June – buy from Redeye.
