Premiere: WVR BVBY – What Is It Good For?

Melbourne eight-piece WVR BVBY (pronounced War Baby) release their debuta self-titled album on Plug Seven Records, connected to the local store of the same name. The band’s name refers to leader and bass player Carl Lindeberg, the product of his parents meeting in the Middle East during the Gulf War.

Recorded in one session at Plug Seven Studios using direct to tape 70s techniques, the eight-track album is a meditational odyssey, showing the rude health of Melbourne’s jazz players. ‘What Is It Good For?’ combines a booming brass section, mournful guitar and sparing rhythm section, calling to mind London outfits like Kokoroko and Triforce.

WVR BVBY is out 21st April – buy from Plug Seven of Bandcamp.
