Premiere: Trinidadian Deep – Move Me

Sydney-based podcast presenters and club-night outfit Chubby!, run by Aaron Andrew and Steven Sullivan, have expanded their horizons with their first release as a label. Primarily concerned with raw and soulful music, their online and dance floor guests include Move D, Hanna, Vincent Floyd and Vakula and these same musical principals are continued with this four track EP. Spanning four artists and three continents, it maintains a recognisable mixture of driving 4/4 percussion and the ethereality of the more dream-like side of house music.

Our pick is the B1, from house veteran Trinidadian Deep. ‘Move Me’ is a refreshing take on the oft-used aspects of classic house music. A healthy six minute duration is characterised by wandering organ work with a gospel-like intensity and the percussion is light but relentless as melodic synth lines wash in and out over a subtle bassline.

Various Vol. 1 is out 26th March, with additional tracks from Ewan Janson, Mr YT and Mike Grant. Buy from Juno.
