Cold Blow – a new record label that straddles Helsinki and London – gets the ball rolling with an inaugural release from Tampere-based artist Halvtrak. The Finnish producer has charted efforts on Don’t Be Afraid, Acid Waxa and Topic Drift, showcasing a Detroit-infused dimension to his productions.
He continues this sentiment for Cold Blow, with four tracks that match warm depths with glowing highs. Our pick is title track ‘Glass Movers’, which also gets the rework treatment on the flip from Robert Johnson resident performer, Chinaski. Crisp hats welcome a muted acid groove that slowly surfaces from below. Shimmering pads glide above, while echoing tropical pan notes and twinkling chimes endow it with the distant feel of an Antinote release.
Glass Movers is out now on digital. Look out for the 12″ release in early 2018.
