Poland’s hotbed of underground talent remains humble, fervent and exciting. And there’s one label that never fails to get you enthused about it. Transatlantyk – the younger sibling of now defunct The Very Polish Cut Outs – is dedicated to exalting talented local producers. From releasing Ptaki’s debut album, through to their deep diving Polo House compilation and Trans Afryka series, that ethos has remained central since the label’s inception in 2014.
Now they add to their healthy catalogue with Diamentowa Sutra, the first instalment from Warsaw based producer Tamten, real name Matt Brzezny. Known as a friendly face behind the counter at Warsaw’s Side One Records, he previously contributed a track to Transatlantyk’s second Trans Afryka release, but this five tracker marks his first ever solo release.
Bathe in the clear waters of ‘Przebudzenie’ – an ambient opener that submerges you in glistening aquatic depths. Matt’s love for new age musings manifests itself in his productions; in the rippling otherworldly siren calls, the cascades of rushing water and the pads that shimmer overhead. To quote Transatlantyk, this is ‘definitely one for the dreamers’.
Diamentowa Sutra will be released on 31 October. Preorder on Transatlantyk’s bandcamp.
