With Dimensions only days away Detroit house legend Scott Grooves has announced his plans for a new limited run 7″ release, which he’ll be selling exclusively at his own pop-up shop on-site at the festival. This follows up his hard-to-find The Five Heartbeats white label released on his Natural Midi imprint earlier this year.

The record, simply entitled 2nd 7inch, ties in with the artist’s DIY approach, not just for releasing and selling his own music but the accessories that accompany. Buyers of the 1st 7 Inch last year will have noticed the Detroit skyline adapter that accompanies. Scott is stepping it up again for this one, with a custom, wood charred version coming with each purchase. “This was not easy to make by the way”, he added when we caught up with him on the phone about the release.

The A-side, titled ‘So Glad’ in an original work, written by Scott for Al Hudson and One Way, one of the last remaining funk and RnB bands left in Detroit. “It was quite a memorable moment”, Scott reflected, with a deep pride for his hometown’s musical heritage. The elegantly titled B-side, is a cover of a Dramatics track ‘Oceans of Thoughts and Dreams’, recorded live in Detroit on 2nd January 2017 with a selection of local young musicians. Reflecting on both tracks, Scott added, “it’s liberating to give the drum machine a rest and play instruments with other human beings”

Soundclips are being kept secret, so we’d advise grabbing a copy for yourself when Scott accompanies us on the Stamp the Wax Boat Party alongside Alma Negra, Aaron L and Harri Pepper. Last remaining tickets are available from the Dimensions website.
