Premiere: Sad City – Steady Jam (DJ Nature Remix)

Two London based labels team up to release a deep and percussive take on a track from Sad City’s 2016 LP, Shapes In Formation. Joining forces with R&S sub label Meda Fury is Stuart Leath’s Emotional Response, a label which has been delivering consistently good quality club music in its promising five year run (including Roy Of The Ravers’ already classic ‘Emotium’).

New York house veteran DJ Nature (aka Natureboy) provides a stripped back reinterpretation of Sad City’s 12-minute ‘Steady Jam’, shortening it to dancefloor practicality and adding a gristly warmth in the rolling drums. Without compromising the spaced out feel of the initial version, he adds melancholic chords to the mix over a relentlessly driving conga pattern, resembling the effective simplicity that we might find on one of DJ Food’s sample-heavy tracks from the early days on Ninja Tune.

Shapes in Remixes EP is out now and also features remixes from HOLOVR and Herron – buy from Bandcamp.
