London label, On The Corner Records, has been releasing some of the best music of late, in our opinion. Repping the local jazz scene and loved music from the Africa continent, as well as uniting near and far artists for some powerful edits. Including the excellent remix project of Uganda’s Mugwisa International Xylophone Group which they dropped last year. For their latest release, OTCR, are releasing a collaborative track between the Nairobian Benga scene’s figurehead, Makadem, and South African producer Behr. Accompanied by remixes from Daisho, Africaine 808 and Modified Man. Indian producer, Daisho’s remix brilliantly plays on the original, lifting up the traditional instruments and lyrics, layering in a thumping bass line and a whirling build up, turning it into a 4×4 groover.
Nyako by Makadem & Behr is available now for pre-order.
