On this year’s first bank holiday weekend, our friends at The Diggers with help from Heels & Souls will be hosting their very own dedication to the record digger. In an all day affair, taking place on the roof at East London’s NT’s loft and terrace space, will be the Diggers Record Fair, a free a event that welcomes collectors to a mini haven of precious second hand vinyl. The fair will run from midday on Sunday 16th April, housing dealers, shops and DJs both selling and playing records, with NTS’s Jon Rust, DEEK boss Bullion, Dimensions Soundsystem & Aiden d’Araujo from House Hunting and Ransom Note among the sellers looking to pass on some of their collections. Expect a few select labels with some new bits in there too.
Running alongside the fair will be another exchange but one purely of vinyl, in the Diggers Social. DJs including Miro SundayMusiq of Sunday Club, Adrian Magrys of Lanquidity Records and Alex BTW of Behind This Wall, will station themselves behind the decks teasing fair-goers with selections from their extensive collections, which they will open up to anyone looking to exchange some wax.
Following the day’s eye-squaring activities, will be the Record Party welcoming a number of more than capable selectors to look after the vibes from twilight until the early hours. Golf Channel Recordings affiliate and head of reputable blog Test Pressing, Apiento will blend balearic goodness while Champagne Funk, ATLAS Radio and our very own Peachy & Yoshi combine for a session of worldly flavours. But all this and more succeed a special live performance from Londoner Emma-Jean Thackray. The rising jazz artist and RBMA graduate uses her trumpet with electronic hardware to create her fresh take on jazz in her inspiring one-woman show.
