Now onto just their fourth well-considered release in 18 months, Berlin label Tape Archive are marking themselves out as a highly competent imprint in a city that doesn’t make it easy to stand out.
They have a knack for identifying the melodious touches from the tougher regions of dance music, whether it was the Omar-S tendencies of their first release with F.T.F or the flutey synths of COPY1 from Waitress. The latter returns under new alias, Views, with Godspeed Dancefloor EP, five tracks of techno that oscillates between tempos and sounds, from ambient soundscapes to more vigorous dance floor ready material. Our standout on the EP, ‘Modern Life (UMH Mix)’ falls into the second category, poised ready to grab a warm-up by the scruff of the neck and inject some energy into a set, with a deep bassline contrasting nicely with the soaring, euphoric synths.
Godspeed Dancefloor EP is out 24th March on Tape Archive.
