Split geographically between Europe and Asia, Istanbul is probably the most well known of the unique few transcontinental cities. In the latest edition of their illuminative Vinyl Culture video series, The Vinyl Factory take to Turkey’s cultural nucleus and unwrap some of the layers in its long rooted production and digging practices of vinyl.
Touching on its prolific pressing age during the 70s, to the recent emergence of appreciators both native and worldwide, the film nicely condenses Turkey’s musical blends of disco, psych funk, rock and disco, now rare and highly sought after but still being made and reinterpreted today. Both continents too, are well stocked with digging destinations, from Bomonti Flea Market to Zaltan Records. Find even more in the video above.
