Premiere: Banda De Pifanos De Caruaru – Cavalinho Cavalao (Tahira Edit)

New label Tiff’s Joints announces its arrival in flamboyant style, transporting us to Brazil with a double-sided 12″ debut. Bringing us two Afro-Brazilian cuts of the utmost quality, full of colour and that intense carnival energy, TJ001 comes just at the right time to warm dance floors in the colder months.

After Boiler Room premiered the A-side, we can bring you a first listen to the flip, a brilliant edit of Banda De Pifanos De Caruaru’s forró classic, ‘Cavalinho Cavalao’. DJ Tahira is known for his groove-led edits and reworks of various Afro-Brazilian tracks and on ‘Cavalinho Cavalao’ he adds fire to the well known vibrato-laced flute line, expanding its percussion ensemble backing. Conjuring scenes of a fierce marching samba line filled with bass rich surdos, frenzy stirring timbale drums and metronomic cymbals, Tahira’s edit pulls no punches. Perfect for those who want to move.

TJ001 is released 1st November, available on vinyl and digital formats – pre-order from Bandcamp.
