It’s a gratifying feeling when you’re sent a promo and it’s one of the unfamiliar names that jumps out most. Following Quiet Dawn‘s debut album on First Word comes a new remix EP, that seeks help from Eglo’s Sauce81, Chicago jazz star Makaya McCraven and multi-instrumentalist Bastien Keb on remix duties. Despite all being highly regarded at STW HQ, Garonne’s version of ‘Dusk’ was the real standout for us though, even though it’s our first introduction to the name. It turns Garonne is actually an alias of Dandy Teru, a hip-hop producer who also helped Quiet Dawn on the album. On ‘Dusk’ Teru applies that same deep and dusty approach to his hip-hop productions, flipping the broken beat original to something resembling South African house.
