Adding bovril to an already meaty lineup, Gottwood have announced another host of names to their 2016 edition. Hunee, who provided one of the stand out sets from last year returns once more to the fray. The momentum he’s been forcefully gaining over the last 12 months has been apparent to anyone without their head in the sand, and we’re excited to see the Rush Hour affiliate back in the forest.
The Welsh festival is known for forward-thinking musical programming, so it’d be a shame to see them resting too much on previous laurels. Thankfully, this is avoided by an influx of fresh faces: Hivern Discs head honcho John Talabot will bring his steady, ebullient house to Llanfaethlu, and rising Northerners John Dimas and Al Zanders add dynamism to the house offerings
One thing that really stood out for us last year at Gottwood was a fantastic range of acts, and it’s really encouraging to see the organisers building on this from last year with the addition of live music. Off the back of a funk laden ode to the 70s album (Dog) the Max Graef Band will appear for a rare UK performance, and The Expansions, best known as Andrew Ashongs session band, will join them on the lawn with their jazz, funk and fusion.
As part of our more involved role in the festival this year, we will also be working with with Ruf Dug on a project called Ruffy’s Lab. A new addition to the Gottwood programme, it will feature 80’s videos games, product showcase, daytime interviews and night-time musical takeovers. More to be revealed on that in due course!
