There’s something about the name of this track that’s sticks in mind long after the music stops. The idea of a plate of honey-glazed, steaming carrots and parsnips is so far removed from house music and all its trimmings, but there’s something endearing and comforting about the union. And because we’re enjoying running with these cooking metaphors so much, there is another comparison to be noted. You know how roasted veggies are all nice and warm, sitting invitingly on that serving platter? Well actually this lovely slab of deep house has the very same effect on our ears. This sonic warmth is conjured up by a balearic bounce to Mor Elian’s production – working under a new alias for this track – and some soothing vocals inviting the listener, in a repeated refrain, to come sit and stay awhile. Fortunately that’s exactly what we’ve been doing, over and over again.
Roasted Veggies is taken from BLDG5’s VA compilation, alongside efforts from Domenique Dumont, Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Garden City Movement, Al Dobson Jr and Mieux. Released on 5th Feb, you can pre-order from Bandcamp.
