Day 21: Nebraska – Uh-Woo-Haa

Day 21 of our charity Advent Calendar in aid of Help Musicians.

There’s only 4 days till the big one now, a panic-inducing fact which is smoothed over by this morning’s Advent offering from the elusive Nebraksa. Known for smooth productions on Mister Saturday Night and Rush Hour, fans will be glad he hasn’t broken stride with ‘Uh-Woo-Haa’. Looping samples with characteristic flair, the track does what he it says on the tin, taking the “Uh Woo Haa” sample and layering over hi hats and snares, and then a kick. Nothing ground-breaking here, just a healthy dose of charming simplicity. As it develops, Nebraska also throws some laid-back keys into the mix, before the energy rises with a frenetic chord progression with “Uh Woo Haa” looping back over. Here’s Nebraska with a bit more info on the track:

“The vocals came from a batch of R&B acapellas I bought from a health food shop in Peckham. It’s one of several tracks that come from thinking about dub and Latin music, some others of which were released via Jimpster’s Delusions Of Grandeur label last year. Music for basements!”

Download ‘Uh-Woo-Haa’ from our Bandcamp. It’s pay-what-you-like, with all donations going to Help Musicians, a charity that supports musicians in times of crisis.
