Bloc 2016 announces first wave of artists

Bloc Weekend

During the British winter, Butlins closes its family-friendly doors for the off-season, leaving its playgrounds, large function rooms and swimming pools still, silent and cold. But wait, what’s that? That light thump carried by the wind over the coastal town of Minehead. Something is happening, some sort of hive of activity…

..why is everyone wearing black??

The first wave of the hallowed winter festival, Bloc has been announced.

In big letters, it’s a rather surprising sight to see Thom Yorke alongside Jeff Mills, Nina Kraviz, Ben Klock, Rodhad, Four Tet all flying the strong usual-suspect flag. But it’s the more hard-hitting members of the line up that define Bloc’s greatest characteristics. Ø Phase, Rrose, Holly Herndon, Magic Mountain High, Optimo b2b Andrew Weatherall, Tama Sumo b2b Lakuti, Helena Hauff, Sandrien, Jane Fitz, Laurel Halo will all be turning up at Butlins beachside resort.

Omar-S will be reappearing after one of the major highlights from last year, along with a rare appearance from Motor City Drum Ensemble also Floating Points, Fatima Yamaha, italojohnsonBen UFO, Daniel Avery, Objekt, Dome & Roland, Evian Christ and many many more still to come.

This being only the first wave, brace yourselves for the second, and have your swimming trunks ready for Bloc 2016. For a full run-down on the lineup and to tickets and chalets, head to the Bloc website.
