Back in December we brought news of a forthcoming untitled HBO drama in the works centred around the fast-paced lifestyle of a record label exec in 1970s New York. Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger were said to be two of the creative minds involved in the project, with Bobby Cannavale (of Boardwalk Empire fame) starring as ‘Richie’, the founder and president of American Century Records.
HBO has now released the first piece of footage, naming the series ‘Vinyl’ (an almost full-proof way to tap that younger music-orientated audience). The slant seems to be on 1970s rock ‘n’ roll, with plenty of Rolling Stones tracks forming the bedrock of the OST, with Jagger’s son playing a main role.
Check the trailer below, and rest assured they’ll be ample amounts of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll (in true HBO form), plus a bit of Scorsese’s signature flair with violence.
Vinyl premieres on HBO in 2016.
