Eric Prydz fans react to the new Four Tet remix

By now we’re used to Four Tet’s eclectic tastes, but even a few eyebrows were raised when the Shazam brigade realised he’d reached for Eric Prydz’s ‘Muranyi‘ at Dekmantel this summer. It seems this love affair goes both ways, as Prydz’s asked Hebden to remix his latest does-what-it-says-on-the-tin opus, ‘Opus’.

Naturally, this one’s ruffled a few feathers in the comments section, so please read the following as if it were all being yelled at each other like a group of opinionated sea gulls.

“Welcome to the world of Techno”
“FOUR TET ISNT TECHNO”
“I wasn’t talking about Four Tet”
“Not as good as the original track”
“The pleb is out screaming “Muuuh ORIGINUL IS BETTER””
“Oh. My. Days”
“I don’t get why people like this remix”
“my faith in music is restored!”
“????????????”
“Wow!”
“Booooooosh!!!!”
“Good. Lord. ”
“why would u remix such a cheesy, pompous, hands up bullshit melody!?”
“THIS BREAKDOWN.” *closes eyes*. “CAN BRING” *raises hands to the sky* “A DEATH MAN TO LIFE!”
“Meh…”
“Damn Four Tet, what a let down!”
“Lord have mercy on my soul!”
“Dude, just no. No, no no. One does not simply “Remix” a track from the Prydz..”
“it’s perfect to get high..”
“As I expected, it’s crap”
“what the just fucked up the vibe of the song”
“I just came!”

The jury’s out on this one. But there’s no doubt that when you hear this out, you’ll want to put your hands in the air, even if keeping them up for the whole five minute breakdown makes you look like your waiting to be undressed.
