Premiere: Mikispeakz – Parasite$

Without wanting to sound too old myself, it does seem that every year we’re witnessing younger and younger artists entering the musical fray online. Perhaps it’s Generation Z’s early exposition to the internet that us millennial’s never had that has propagated such a budding musical development?

Whilst you simmer over that, here’s one case-in-point, holding up the flag for south London and joining the ranks of local rappers Loyle Carner and Jesse James Solomons in leading the way for fresh hip-hop in the UK.

15-year-old rapper Mikispeakz (perhaps a reference to his gutter kid counterpart Ratking‘s Wiki who debuted the New York sewer-style classic ‘Wikispeaks’ back when he was 17) tells us that he’s been rapping since primary school – so not that long then? Teaming up with 13 year old JGB Beats on production, they have formed a collective called KBS, with ‘Parasite$’ being their debut track.

References to Pokémon and Beyblade are twisted with high-class stream of conscious rapping alongside lush instrumental hip-hop sounds that’s way ahead of their respective ages. Keep your eyes on these guys.
