Seekae – 3

The Sydney based experimental trio Seekae have been enjoying some renewed attention thanks to their latest album release this summer, but it’s a track from 2011 that has caught our ears recently. It kicks off with a dreamlike post-rock intro, then slips into an ambient section driven by bass, which cascades down over a melody that is full of energy, yet beautifully laid back. Comparisons have been drawn between Seekae and Mount Kimbie’s Crooks and Lovers, yet their glitchy edge creates more of a link with Gold Panda’s Half of Where You Live. Their combination of influences makes for a unique experience which is complex to quantify.
