There is a clear theme in electronic music at the moment. That is the World-esque, returning to the roots, djembe drum sort of sound; Owiny Sigoma, Syrian disco-mindblower Omar Souleyman, Al Dobson Jr and Black Acre’s Romare and Clap Clap! all spring to mind. We know very little about Vibe Nuh, but the New York producer’s jazzy Middle Eastern and Afro percussive production, enveloped with warped and bizarre sound bites, makes for a trippy and funked fusion sound. The track is teasingly short and when it’s over you wish it wasn’t. So when we listen to it, we do so repetitively.
