Szjerdene – Arrow(s)

szederence

British Soulstress Szjerdene has been gently simmering under the radar for a couple of years, but we reckon 2013 will be a big year for her. When we  glimpsed the tracklist for Bonobo’s forthcoming LP we were delighted to see her featuring on two tracks and considering this is more than Erykah Badu, it really says something about the high esteem in which Bonobo holds the london singer. And rightly so. Take her latest offering for example, sampling Arrow by Jacques Green and Koreless. It is another demonstration not only of Szjerdene’s enchanting voice, but also her knack for singing over great beats (we featured Leila’s Tale back in 2011, sampling Dimlite – Roo).

Listen to Arrow(s) and Leila’s Tale below (both free downloads from Szjerdene’s bandcamp), alongside an ace remix and the Bonobo/Erykah Badu collab, which is getting us very excited for Szjerdene’s tracks on the album. While you wait for that, her latest EP Patchwork is available to buy from Ninja Tune.
