After all that, it's nice to know Mr Steadman still has enough musical juices left in him to sit down and create songs like Mahalia – an infectiously grandeur break-beat track blending harp samples (played by the wonderful Dorothy Ashby) with brightly textured arpeggios and a soulful, reverb-drenched vocal line.
