Oupa – Forget

Replacing the confusingly-named Yu(c)k for his solo material, Oupa honours Blumberg’s grandfather and accordingly the music takes on a melancholic tone. This is no better demonstrated than on Forget, the first single of the similarly-titled LP, released in June. For the most part it is just a piano and Blumberg’s echoing voice, with each refrain of “you can’t forget me know” more heart-felt and sorrowful than the last. This is a long way from Yuck’s garage rock, but Oupa further shows Blumberg’s talents as a musician of many talents.
